Drime Desktop syncs folders between your computer and Drime and backs up your computer. This article covers Windows.

## Install

1. Download the app from [https://drime.cloud/download](https://drime.cloud/download).

In the web app, you can also click **Help** at the bottom of the left rail, then **Download apps**, or open the **Backups** page, which offers the download for your system.

2. Run the installer.

Drime Desktop installs for your Windows user account.

3. Sign in: see [Sign in to and out of Drime Desktop](https://drime.cloud/support/desktop/sign-in-and-out).

On first launch, **Start Drime on system startup** is turned on, so Drime starts with Windows. You can change it in **Preferences** \> **General**.

## Update

Drime Desktop downloads updates by itself. When an update is ready, the app shows **v… ready, restart to install** with a **Restart & Install** button.

To check manually, open **Preferences** and click the version number: **Check for updates**. **You're up to date** means you have the latest version.

If **Update failed** appears, click **Retry**. After an update, **Drime has been updated to v…** appears: click **What's new** to see the changes.

## Uninstall

Uninstall Drime Desktop like any Windows app, from the Windows settings. Uninstalling leaves the files on your computer where they are.

> **Warning**
>
> To remove the Drime folder from your computer, sign out of the app instead: see [Sign in to and out of Drime Desktop](https://drime.cloud/support/desktop/sign-in-and-out#sign-out). Check first that everything is synced.

There is no Drime Desktop app for Linux.
