In Drime Desktop, the **Folder sync** page links a folder anywhere on your computer with a folder in Drime. Any file changes apply to both places.

> **Note**
>
> **Folder sync** is not the option that chooses which Drime folders appear on your computer. For that, see [Choose which folders sync to your computer](https://drime.cloud/support/desktop/choose-folders-to-sync).

## Link a folder

1. Open the Drime window from the notification area, then **Preferences** \> **Folder sync**.

The page reads **Sync certain folders on this computer. Any file changes apply to both places.** Before your first link, it shows **Sync a folder of this computer**.

2. Click **Select folder**.

If you already have linked folders, click **Add folder**.

3. Under **Select a local folder**, click **Choose** and pick the folder on your computer.

4. Under **Select a Drime folder**, pick the folder in Drime.

Your choice appears next to **Destination:**. Pick a specific folder: the root of your Drime, shown as **/ (Default)**, is not accepted.

5. Confirm with **Add sync**.

**Your sync is set up** confirms it. Click **Done**.

From then on, the two folders stay identical, both ways.

The first time you open **Preferences** after the update to version 2.9.291, a card **Selective sync is here** points to this page: click **Discover** to open it.

> **Warning**
>
> If you delete files from a synced folder, you delete them from Drime and from your computer.

## Manage a linked folder

Your linked folders are listed under **Active syncs**, each with its **Local folder** and its **Drime folder**. For each one, click **Pause** to pause it and **Resume** to restart it.

To stop syncing a folder, click **Stop**, then **Stop sync** in **Stop synchronization?**. The files stored on your computer stay where they are. Files that were online-only are removed from your computer and stay on Drime.

## If it doesn't work

| What you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| **Please select a local folder** | Choose a folder on your computer under **Select a local folder**. |
| **Please select a specific Drime folder (not the root).** | Pick a folder inside your Drime, not **/ (Default)**. |
| **Local folder not found. Restore it or remove this sync** | The folder on your computer was moved or deleted: put it back, or stop this sync. |
