The folders you back up from a computer with Drime Desktop appear in the **Backups** section of the sidebar. To set up a backup, see [Back up folders from your computer](https://drime.cloud/support/desktop/back-up-your-computer).

## Open your backups

1. In the sidebar, click **Backups**.

2. Find your computer in the list.

   Each device shows its name, what it **Contains**, its size and when it was **Last seen**.

3. Open the device to browse the folders backed up from it.

If no computer is backed up yet, the page shows **No backup devices yet** with **Install the Drime desktop app on the device you want to back up. As soon as you sign in, this device shows up here automatically.** Click **Download Drime for Windows** to get the app.

## Backups are read-only on the web

A backup mirrors folders of your computer, so it can only change from that computer. On the web:

- you can't upload into a backup folder;
- you can't restore an earlier version of a backed-up file;
- files in your backups don't show in search results.

Your backups count toward your storage. See [Why my storage used doesn't match my files](https://drime.cloud/support/drive/storage-used-explained).

## Get back a file deleted from a backup

1. In the sidebar, click **Trash**, then the **Backups** tab.

2. Right-click the file and choose **Restore to…**.

3. Pick a folder of your Drive, outside your backups.

A file deleted from a backup can't go back into it. See [Restore deleted files from the Trash](https://drime.cloud/support/drive/restore-deleted-files).

## If it doesn't work

| What you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| **Backup folders are read-only. Changes can only be made on your local device.** | You tried to add files to a backup. Upload them to another folder, or add them on your computer. |
| **Files deleted from a backup cannot go back into it, because a backup only mirrors your computer. Restore them to a folder of your Drive instead.** | Choose **Restore to…** and pick a folder of your Drive. |
| **Choose a folder outside your backups.** | The folder you picked is inside a backup: pick another one. |
| My computer isn't listed | Install Drime Desktop on it and sign in: it then shows up here on its own. |
