# A file won't open or play (HEIC, WMV, WebM, EPUB…)

Which photo, video, audio and ebook formats open in Drime, what Drime converts in your browser, and what to do when a format does not play.

**Can I upload any type of file?**

Yes. No file type is blocked by default: Drime stores every file as it is. What can be opened in the browser depends on the format, as below. Everything else can be downloaded.

If you see **Files of this type are not allowed**, this type of file is blocked on your Drime. [Contact support](https://drime.cloud/support/getting-started/contact-drime-support) if you need to store it.

**Do HEIC, HEIF and JPEG XL photos open?**

Yes. They open in the preview: Drime decodes them in your browser. To get a JPG copy, right-click the photo and choose **Convert to**.

**Do RAW photos from my camera open?**

Drime shows the image that the camera stored inside the RAW file, for 34 camera formats. The RAW file itself is kept as it is: open it in your photo software to edit it.

**Which videos play in Drime?**

| Videos | What happens |
| --- | --- |
| MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV, OGG, OGV, 3GP | They play directly. |
| AVI, WMV, FLV, MPEG, TS, VOB and similar | Drime converts them in your browser to a format it can play. **Preparing playback…** shows while it works. |

An MKV with AC-3 or DTS sound plays without sound at first: click **Fix audio**.

There is no quality selector: the video plays as it was uploaded.

**My video won't play or shows an error**

Your browser may not be able to read how the video was encoded, which is often the case with HEVC. Drime then shows **Download it to watch in a desktop player such as VLC.**, with two other choices:

- **Convert in this browser**: **Converting happens on your device and can take a few minutes.**
- **Try playing original file**.

**Which audio files play?**

Audio your browser can play, plus WMA, APE, WV, AIFF, AMR, CAF and MKA: Drime converts these in your browser, up to 500 MB per file. Otherwise, **This audio format can't be played in this browser.** appears: download the file to play it.

**Do ebooks open (EPUB, MOBI, AZW3)?**

EPUB opens in a reader. MOBI and AZW3 do not open in Drime: download them, or convert them with **Convert to**. Ebook covers are not shown.

**Do Word, Excel and PowerPoint files open?**

Yes, in the Office editor. See Open and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

**How do I convert a file to another format?**

Right-click the file and choose **Convert to**, then the format you want. You can convert images, audio, video, documents, ebooks and more. Simple image and audio conversions run in your browser; the others work for files up to 5 GB. **File converted!** confirms it.
