# Save a shared file to your own Drime

Copy a file or folder someone shared with you into your own Drime, from a share link with Save to Drime or from Shared with me with Make a copy.

A copy you save is yours: it no longer depends on the original, and keeps working if the original is changed or deleted.

## From a share link

1. Open the share link, then click **Save to Drime**.

If you are not signed in, Drime asks you to sign in first.

2. In **Choose where to save this file in your Drime.**, pick a folder, then click **Save here**.

The copy of the file, or of the whole folder, shows its progress in the upload panel.

**Save to Drime** appears only when the link allows downloads.

## From Shared with me

On your **Shared** page, right-click the file and choose **Make a copy**, or press `Ctrl` + `Alt` + `R`. This needs download permission, and Drime checks that you have enough free space.

See [Find files shared with you and leave a share](https://drime.cloud/support/sharing-and-collaboration/files-shared-with-you).

## If it doesn't work

| What you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| No **Save to Drime** button | The link doesn't allow downloads: ask the person who shared it. |
| **Make a copy** isn't available | You don't have download permission: ask the owner for **Can Download** or **Can edit**. |
| **Could not save to your Drime. Please try again.** | Try again. If it keeps failing, [contact support](https://drime.cloud/support/getting-started/contact-drime-support). |
