# Create an account for your child

Create a Drime account for your child inside your family: e-mail code, date of birth, consent. Answer their requests and end child status later.

As the manager or a co-manager, you can create a Drime account for a child who does not have one yet. The child joins your family right away, with every parental control on.

> **Note**
>
> Before you start: the child needs an e-mail address with no Drime account yet, and you need them nearby to read you the code Drime sends to it. If the address already has a Drime account, [invite it](https://drime.cloud/support/family/manage-family-members#invite) instead: your child accepts from their account.

## Create the account

1. In the family console, click **Invite members**, then **Create your child's account**.

2. Type **Your child's e-mail address**.

3. Type the code sent to that address in **Enter the code**.

   Drime sends a 6-digit code: ask your child to read it to you. It is valid 15 minutes. If it expired, click **Send a new code**.

4. Enter the **Date of birth**.

   A child's account is for someone under 18.

5. Under **Their name and password**, type the child's name and choose their password.

6. Tick the consent box.

   It confirms that you are the child's parent or legal guardian and agree to the account being created.

7. Click **Create the account**.

## After the account is created

- Your child is a member of the family at once and gets a welcome e-mail.
- They sign in with that address and the password you chose.
- Their files stay private, to you too.
- Every parental control is on. See [Parental controls](https://drime.cloud/support/family/parental-controls).
- The **Child** badge marks their row on the **Members** page.

## Your child's requests

Your child asks for things from their family page. Each request appears in the To do list of the Overview page:

- a request for more storage: **Set the limit** or **Decline**;
- a request to lift a parental control: **Approve** turns that control off for them, or **Decline**.

When **Confirm sensitive actions** is on, approving a request asks for your password first.

## When your child turns 15

Drime offers the manager to end the child status. Every parental control is then lifted, and the child stays a member of the family.

## If it doesn't work

| Message | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| **This address already has a Drime account. Invite it instead: your child accepts from their account.** | [Invite the address](https://drime.cloud/support/family/manage-family-members#invite) instead. |
| **Enter a real date: a child's account is for someone under 18.** | Check the date of birth. |
| The code doesn't work | It is valid 15 minutes and allows 5 attempts. Click **Send a new code** (up to 5 codes an hour). |
