In the Drime PDF editor, you can reorganise the pages of a PDF: move, rotate, delete or add pages, and number them. Your changes reach the file only when you save.

## Open the PDF in the editor

1. Above the file list, click **Edit PDF**.

2. In **Choose a PDF to edit**, select the PDF, then click **Choose**.

You can also open a PDF, then click **Edit** \> **Edit in Drime** in the viewer. See [Edit a PDF](https://drime.cloud/support/pdf-editor/edit-a-pdf).

The pages column on the left shows every page. Click a page to go to it. **Hide pages** closes the column.

## Move, rotate or delete one page

Hover a page in the pages column, then use its buttons:

| Button | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Move up** / **Move down** | Moves the page one place up or down. You can also drag the page. |
| **Rotate left** / **Rotate right** | Turns the page a quarter turn. |
| **Delete** | Strikes the page through. Until you save, **Restore** brings it back. |

To add a page, click the last tile, **Blank page**, or choose **Pages** \> **Add blank page**. The new page has the size of the last page.

## Rearrange all the pages at once

1. In the toolbar, click **Pages** \> **Rearrange**.

**Rearrange pages** opens: **Drag & drop or select a page to rearrange**.

2. Drag the pages into the order you want, or select a page and use **Left**, **Right**, **Rotate** or **Delete**.

**Rotate** turns the selected page a quarter turn to the right. **Reset** brings back the order you started with.

3. Click **Save & Close**.

**Pages rearranged.** confirms it. The new order applies to the PDF open in the editor: click **Save** to write it to the file.

## Number the pages

1. Click **Pages** \> **Page numbers**.

**Add page numbers** opens: **Set up numbering style and position.**

2. Set the numbering.

   - **Position**: where the number goes on the page (bottom right by default).
   - **Pages numbered**: the pages to number, from one page to another.
   - **Margins**: the space between the number and the edge of the page (24 pt by default).
   - **Type**: **Page numbers**, or **Bates numbers** with a prefix and a suffix.
   - **Format**: **1, 2, 3**, **Page 1**, **Page 1 of 1** or **1/1**.
   - **Start from**: the first number.
   - **Font**: the font, its size, bold or italic, and the text colour.

3. Click **Save & Close**.

The numbers are written into the file when you save, and follow the final order of the pages. To take them off before saving, open **Page numbers** again and click **Remove numbers**.

## Save your changes

Nothing is saved automatically. When you are done, click **Save** at the top: **PDF saved** confirms it, and the previous content is kept as a version, unless file versioning is turned off. To keep the original untouched, choose **Save options** \> **Save as a copy** instead.

If you close the editor with changes that are not saved, **Discard unsaved changes?** asks you to confirm. Click **Discard** only if you want to lose them.

## If it doesn't work

| What you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| **Save** stays greyed out | Nothing has changed yet in the PDF. Make a change first. |
| A deleted page is still there, struck through | That is expected until you save. Click **Restore** to keep it, or **Save** to remove it from the file. |
| The new page order is not in the file | **Save & Close** only changes the PDF open in the editor. Click **Save** to write it to the file. |
| **You do not have permission to edit this file.** | You can only view this PDF. Ask its owner for edit access. |
| **Backup files are read-only.** | A file from a backup cannot be edited: it opens in the read-only preview. |
