A share link lets anyone who has it open a file or folder, with no Drime account needed. By default, people with the link can view and download the content, but not change it.

You can create a link for your own items, and for items shared with you with **Can edit**.

## Get a link in one click

1. Right-click the file or folder and choose **Get link**.

2. Drime creates the link, copies it and shows it in **Copy link to**.

**Link copied to clipboard** confirms the copy.

3. Paste the link wherever you want to share it: an email, a message, a document.

Each item has one link. If you choose **Get link** again later, you get the same link, and you can share it as many times as you like.

## Copy the link from the Share dialog

1. Right-click the file or folder and choose **Share**.

2. Click **Copy link**.

Under the link, **Anyone with this link can view** reminds you what visitors can do. Click **Manage**, or the gear icon at the top of the Share dialog once the item has a link, to open **Link settings**, where you can add a password, an expiration date and other options: see [Protect a link with a password or an expiration date](https://drime.cloud/support/sharing-and-collaboration/protect-a-link).

## What you can change in Link settings

| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Track file** (under **Send & Track**) | Turns the link into a tracked link, so you can see who opens it. See [Track a file you share](https://drime.cloud/support/send-and-track/track-a-file). |
| **Link expiration** and **Password protect** | Make the link stop working on a date, or ask visitors for a password. See [Protect a link with a password or an expiration date](https://drime.cloud/support/sharing-and-collaboration/protect-a-link). |
| **Allow download** | On by default. Turn it off and visitors can only preview the content. |
| **Advanced options** | Click it to show the custom link address, the branding of the link page and the visitor protection options. See [Customise a share link](https://drime.cloud/support/sharing-and-collaboration/customize-a-share-link). |

Click **Save** to apply your changes.

## Share several items at once

1. Select the files and folders to share.

2. Right-click the selection and choose **Share links**.

3. Click **Copy all links**.

Drime creates one link per item and copies them all.

## Turn a link into a QR code

1. In the Share dialog, click the QR code icon next to **Copy link** (**Create QR code**).

2. Optional: click **Customize**.

Turn **Logo** on or off, click **Upload** to use your own logo, and set the **Color**.

3. Click **Download** to save the image.

Your QR code design is remembered in this browser for the next time.

## Turn a link off

In **Link settings**, click **Delete link**. The link stops working for everyone who has it. See [Change or remove access and stop sharing](https://drime.cloud/support/sharing-and-collaboration/manage-access-and-stop-sharing).

## If it doesn't work

| What you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| You cannot create a link for an item shared with you | You have **Can view** access. Ask the owner for **Can edit**, or ask them to send you the link. |
| Visitors can see the content but cannot download it | **Allow download** is off in **Link settings**. Turn it on and click **Save**. |
| The link does not open for the person you sent it to | See [A shared link doesn't work](https://drime.cloud/support/troubleshooting/shared-link-not-working). |
