# Collect files from anyone with a file request

Create a file request on a folder so clients, friends or colleagues can upload files into it with a link, without a Drime account, before a deadline you set.

A file request gives you a link that lets anyone upload files into one of your folders. They do not need a Drime account.

## Create a file request

1. Right-click the folder that should receive the files and choose **Create file request**.

2. In **Title**, say what you need, for example "Signed contracts for March".

3. Optional: add a **Description** with any details.

4. Optional: turn on **Set a deadline**, then choose the **Deadline date** and what happens with **Late uploads**.

5. Optional: add a **Password**.

   You can also turn on **Limit file size** to cap the size of each uploaded file.

6. Click **Create**.

The request link appears. Click **Copy** and send it to the people who should upload files.

## Deadline and late uploads

After the deadline, what happens depends on **Late uploads**:

| Option | Effect |
| --- | --- |
| **Don't allow** | Uploads stop at the deadline. This is the default. |
| **Allow** | Uploads are still accepted after the deadline. |
| **Allowed for 1 day** | Uploads are accepted for one more day. |
| **Allowed for 2 days** | Uploads are accepted for two more days. |

## What happens to uploaded files

- They land in the folder you chose, and their name ends with the name the person gave: `Contract - Alex Morgan.pdf`.
- They belong to you and count toward your storage.
- If your storage is full, uploads are refused and the visitor sees **This upload can't be accepted right now. The recipient's storage is full. Let them know so they can free up space.**

## What visitors see, and if uploads are refused

Visitors open the link and upload their files. Uploads are refused with a message when:

| Message | Reason |
| --- | --- |
| **This file request is closed** | The request is closed. |
| **The deadline for this file request has passed** | The deadline is over and late uploads are not allowed. |
| **The late upload period for this file request has ended** | The extra days for late uploads are over. |

To find your requests again, open **Tools** in the left rail, then **Requests**.
