# Get notified of activity in a shared folder

Get an email when files are added to or deleted from a folder you share, right away or once a day.

Drime can notify you when someone else adds or deletes files in a folder. Your own changes never notify you, so this is useful for folders you share with other people. Both alerts are off until you turn them on.

## Turn on folder notifications

1. Right-click the shared folder and choose **Folder settings** \> **Folder notifications**.

2. Under **What should we notify you about?**, turn on **Files added**, **Files deleted** or both.

3. Choose how often to get emails.

   Under **How often should we email you?**, choose **As activity occurs** or **Once a day**.

4. Click **Confirm**.

**Notification preferences saved** confirms it.

## How often you are emailed

- **As activity occurs**: changes are grouped, then sent once the folder has been quiet for about 90 seconds, and at most 10 minutes after the first change.
- **Once a day**: you receive one summary email a day.

To stop the emails, open the same dialog, turn the options off and click **Confirm**.

## If it doesn't work

| What you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| No email arrives | Your own changes never notify you: only files that other people with access to the folder add or delete do, including workspace members. You also get a notification in Drime, under the bell. With **As activity occurs**, the email leaves a few minutes after the activity stops; with **Once a day**, it comes in the daily summary. Check your spam folder. |
| The folder is not shared | Nobody else adds or deletes files in it, so there is nothing to notify. Share it first: see [Share a file or folder with people](https://drime.cloud/support/sharing-and-collaboration/share-files-and-folders). |
