When you share with people, you give each of them one of three access levels. You can change it at any time.

## The three access levels

| | **Can view** | **Can Download** | **Can edit** |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Open and preview | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Download | No | Yes | Yes |
| Upload into a shared folder | No | No | Yes |
| Create folders | No | No | Yes |
| Rename and move items | No | No | Yes |
| Share with other people and create share links | No | No | Yes |
| Delete items they do not own | No | No | No |

**Can view** is the default level. Whiteboards do not offer **Can Download**.

## Folders

The access level you give on a folder applies to the folder and to everything inside it. If you change it later, the change applies to the whole content too.

## Who owns what

You stay the owner of the items you share. A file that someone adds to your shared folder belongs to that person. To know whose storage it uses, see [Whose storage do shared files use?](https://drime.cloud/support/sharing-and-collaboration/whose-storage-do-shared-files-use).

## Leave a share

The people you share with can remove an item from their own list: **Leave folder** for a folder, **Remove file** for a file, or **Remove from shared** for several items. This removes only their access. See [Find files shared with you and leave a share](https://drime.cloud/support/sharing-and-collaboration/files-shared-with-you).

## Share links

These levels apply to people you share with by email. By default, a [share link](https://drime.cloud/support/sharing-and-collaboration/create-a-share-link) lets anyone who has it view and download the item, without editing it.
