# My files are missing

Files disappeared from your Drive, your computer or a shared folder? Where they usually are, from the Trash to another workspace, and how to get them back.

**Checks**

1. Search for it: type a word of its name in **Search files and folders**. See [Find files with search](https://drime.cloud/support/drive/find-files-with-search). Search does not cover your computer backups: for those, click **Backups** in the rail and browse the computer.
2. Look in the Trash: in the sidebar, click **Trash**. Deleted items stay there for 30 days. Use the **Deleted by** filter to see who deleted it. Files deleted from a computer backup are in the **Backups** tab of the Trash, with **Restore to…**. 3. Check the space you are in: the workspace switcher at the bottom of the side panel. The file may be in another workspace or in your personal space.
4. Look at the folder's activity: a moved or renamed item shows in the activity. See [See a file's details and activity](https://drime.cloud/support/drive/file-details-and-activity).

**How to fix it**

### It was shared with you and is gone

The owner may have stopped sharing it, or removed your access. It no longer appears in **Shared**. If you removed it from your own list with **Leave folder** or **Remove file**, ask the owner to share it with you again: see [Find files shared with you and leave a share](https://drime.cloud/support/sharing-and-collaboration/files-shared-with-you).

### It disappeared after Ctrl + X

In Drime, `Ctrl` + `X` does not cut: it moves the selection to the Trash. Restore it from the Trash.

### It belonged to a member who left a workspace

When a member leaves or is removed, the files they created in the workspace are transferred to the workspace owner.

### It is missing on your computer only

With Drime Desktop, the folder may be unchecked in **Drive folder selection**: it stays in Drime but is not on this computer. See [Choose which folders sync to your computer](https://drime.cloud/support/desktop/choose-folders-to-sync).
