A workspace is a shared space for a team: its own files, its own members and their roles. You become its owner.

## Create a workspace

1. At the bottom of the side panel, open the workspace switcher.

2. Choose **Create workspace**.

3. In **Workspace name**, type a name of at least 3 characters.

   Optional: add a logo, ideally 160 x 160 pixels.

4. Optional: open **Settings** to choose, for example, **Who gets charged for uploads?**.

5. Click **Create workspace**.

## After you create it

The new workspace opens. To move between it and your personal space, use the workspace switcher at the bottom of the side panel.

- Members you invite use the features of your plan in this workspace.
- To manage members, roles and settings, open the switcher and choose **Settings**: this opens the workspace's admin console.
- With Drime Desktop, you can also sync the workspace on your computer: see [Sync several workspaces on your computer](https://drime.cloud/support/desktop/sync-multiple-workspaces).

Next step: [Invite members to a workspace](https://drime.cloud/support/workspaces/invite-members).

## Who pays for uploaded files

**Who gets charged for uploads?** decides whose storage the files added to the workspace use:

| Option | Effect |
| --- | --- |
| The member who uploads (default) | Each file counts toward the storage of the person who uploaded it. |
| The workspace owner | Every file counts toward your storage, as the owner. |

See [How storage works in a workspace](https://drime.cloud/support/workspaces/workspace-storage).

## If it doesn't work

The number of workspaces you can own depends on your plan. Over the limit, Drime refuses the creation with **You have exceeded the total number of workspaces allowed for your account. To create another workspace you will need to upgrade to a new plan.**, and an **Upgrade** button. A workspace name must also be different from the names of your other workspaces.

> **Tip**
>
> If you chose **Professional / Team** when you set up your account, you may already have created a workspace during setup.
