A new chapter for Drime

Drime has changed considerably since its first versions.

So today, our identity is evolving with the product.

You'll start seeing:

• A completely new Drime logo

• A new colour system built around Drime green

• Updated product visuals across web, mobile and desktop

• A more consistent identity across Drime and Transfr

But this isn't just about changing how Drime looks.

The direction behind this new chapter is simple: reliability, privacy and security need to be the foundation, without preventing us from continuing to build ambitious new features.

August is a pretty good example of exactly that.

Introducing Drime Pages

Notes has been completely rebuilt inside Drime and is now called Pages.

The previous Notes experience lived separately from the rest of Drime.

Pages is built directly into the platform, meaning your documents now live alongside your files, inside your workspace, with your team.

Writing

Pages comes with a much more capable editor:

• Slash commands to instantly insert blocks

• Tables

• Callouts

• Toggles

• Quotes

• Code blocks

• Dividers

• Checklists with live progress counters

• Drag and drop block reordering

• Sub-pages

Paste a link and you can turn it into a bookmark, embed or mention.

You can also directly link files already stored in your Drive.

You can create one from anywhere in Drive with a right click.

Upload reliability

Uploads received a major reliability overhaul throughout August.

• Interrupted uploads can resume instead of restarting

• Better recovery after reloads

• Better protection against duplicate files after retries

• Automatic recovery for uploads stuck for too long

• Improved reliability across multiple Firefox tabs

• Smarter upload chunk sizes

• Clearer Uploaded, Failed and Retrying states

• Per-file retry support

• Significantly faster finalization for very large batches

• Better handling of imports containing thousands of photos

• Improved recovery for files that reached storage but weren't immediately registered

• Smoother progress indicators

• More accurate upload totals

• Fixed cancelled files leaving incorrect progress behind

Large imports should now spend considerably less time waiting in the Finalizing stage.

We also reduced a large amount of unnecessary processing around file uploads, improving both speed and reliability.

Download reliability

Large folder downloads also received major improvements.

• Fixed very large folder downloads occasionally missing files

• Better handling of duplicate filenames inside archives

• Better integrity checks

• Interrupted downloads are no longer incorrectly shown as completed

• Improved reliability for very long ZIP downloads

• Better handling of archives containing thousands of files

• Failed archives now clearly stop instead of silently producing incomplete downloads

• Fixed downloads from protected shared folders in several views

• Improved downloads in private windows and with stricter privacy extensions

  
  

Backups and Device Centre

Backup downloads received one of their biggest improvements yet.

Backup downloads now support:

• Resume after a crash

• Resume after closing the tab

• Parallel downloading for large files

• Better scheduling for small files

• Automatic recovery when a download stalls

• Automatic retry for files that fail once

• More accurate time estimates

We also improved device management.

You can now remove a device from the web even if the desktop application is no longer installed.

We fixed several Device Centre crashes as well.

For sensitive actions such as deleting the cloud copy of a Backup or removing a device with active backups, Drime now asks for additional confirmation.

Drive reliability

We fixed several issues that could affect folder organization and large operations.

• Improved folder moving reliability

• Improved consistency between folder locations and Drive structure

• Added more integrity checks

• Improved workspace handling during large file operations

• Fixed files occasionally moving unexpectedly around Trash operations

• Improved recovery of inconsistent folder structures

These changes are particularly important when manipulating very large directory trees.

Drive gets faster

A huge amount of performance work went into Drive during August.

Some of it is invisible, but it should be felt across the platform.

• Much faster Drive listings

• File listings load before less important sidebar requests

• Much faster Recents for active accounts

• Faster synchronization queries on very large libraries

• Lighter initial loading when opening Drime

• Thumbnails stay cached significantly longer

• Faster folder navigation

• Faster breadcrumbs

• Folder prefetching before opening them

• Reduced unnecessary loading requests

Quick Access also received major optimizations.

More Drive improvements

We continued polishing everyday file interactions too.

• Renamed files now re-sort automatically

• Rows animate into their new position after sorting

• Quick View's File menu now includes the same actions as the right-click menu

• Files can be dropped directly onto folders from Quick View

• Fixed long filenames sliding underneath hover actions

• Fixed some errors when duplicating files

• Fixed some errors when saving shared files to Drive

• Fixed personal photos being hidden from Gallery in some situations

  
  

Workspaces and teams get a major overhaul

Workspace member management was reworked from the ground up.

Invitations now guide you through:

1. Email

2. Folder access

3. Review

This means you can decide what someone should access before their invitation is even sent.

Other improvements include:

• Individual roles for each invited person

• Folder-level permissions stored directly on invitations

• View-only folder access

• Per-member exceptions for Vault

• Per-member exceptions for Sign

• Per-member exceptions for Send & Track

• Folder restrictions for existing members

• Real-time permission updates across open tabs

• Cleaner administrator activity logs written in plain language

Preferences and personalization

Drime now gives you considerably more control over how the app behaves.

You can customize:

• Time zone

• Automatic time zone based on your device

• Country and city

• Date format

• Automatic date format based on language

• 12-hour or 24-hour clock

• App accent colour

• The page Drime opens on when you sign in

Search, notifications and What's New

We made several improvements around discovery and notifications.

• Faster search for accounts with very large libraries

• Upload notifications grouped into digests

• Delete notifications grouped into digests

• Folder notifications now disabled by default

• New What's New panel

• Unread badge on the help button

• What's New posts translated into your language

Video and media

Video playback received another major reliability cycle.

• Fixed invisible players continuing to play audio

• Added stronger protections against multiple players playing simultaneously

• Improved cleanup when switching or closing videos

• Fixed several cases of duplicated audio

• Improved subtitle management

The subtitle interface now supports:

• Automatic subtitle generation

• Subtitle files already stored in Drime

• Uploading subtitle files from your device

• Multiple subtitle tracks

We also introduced frame-by-frame navigation.

You can now step through individual video frames using keyboard shortcuts, which is especially useful for reviewing footage and leaving precise comments.

We also redesigned the time format selector with live previews.

Additional audio formats can now play directly in the browser, including:

• APE

• WavPack

Gallery and Photos

Gallery performance continued improving throughout August.

We improved:

• Timeline loading

• Album loading

• Album counters

• Very large photo libraries

• Memory usage

• Image loading

• Large album reliability

We also improved photo metadata detection.

Older photos could occasionally appear under the wrong date when their original capture metadata couldn't be detected correctly.

Drime now supports more metadata variations and includes recovery mechanisms for previously affected files.

Vault

Vault received another large reliability and UX cycle.

• Faster loading

• Improved reset reliability

• Better handling of very large Vault deletions

• Fixed storage usage sometimes remaining occupied after deleting a Vault

• Vault picker now displays file count and total size

• Restored duplicate detection when uploading

• Improved duplicate handling

• Redesigned Vault creation experience

Shared links

Shared links became both faster and more reliable.

• Improved password protection

• Better brute-force protection without interfering with normal browsing

• Clearer expired and revoked states

• Faster first load

• Reduced loading before content appears

File Requests

File Requests now support a maximum individual file size per link.

You can define the limit while staying within the overall account limits.

Visitors can see the maximum allowed size before uploading.

We also improved how upload rejection reasons are displayed.

Mobile takes a huge step forward

August was also one of our biggest months ever for the mobile apps.

We redesigned many parts of the application to make it smoother, more modern and easier to navigate.

But the biggest changes go far beyond design.

Create and edit documents on mobile

One of our most requested mobile features is finally here.

You can now create and edit Office documents directly from Drime.

This includes:

• DOCX

• XLSX

• PPTX

• Other compatible Office formats

The editor is integrated directly inside Drime.

Documents save automatically, and you can create new files from templates.

PDF editing comes to mobile

The PDF editing experience available on web is also coming to mobile.

And this isn't limited to annotations.

You can directly modify existing PDF text while preserving its original formatting.

Available tools include:

• Edit existing PDF text

• Preserve formatting

• Preserve colours

• Change text colour

• Bold

• Italic

• Underline

• Add new text

• Highlight

• Draw

• Erase annotations

Free Up Space: Large Files

Free Up Space now has a dedicated Large Files section.

Drime automatically identifies the largest files in your account so you can quickly review what is consuming storage and remove files you no longer need.

Mobile Gallery and media

We also added and improved:

• Open in for media files

• Album sorting

• Album selection

• Faster album loading

• Grid view

• List view

• Better album navigation

• Faster Vault loading

• Better Vault responsiveness

• Fixed large Galleries stopping after the first page

A huge Windows Desktop update

Desktop has been one of our biggest focuses throughout the past few months.

First, a massive thank you to everyone who tested the builds. It has helped enormously, and we're extremely happy with the feedback we've received from the latest versions.

The Windows app received hundreds of fixes and improvements.

Among the biggest changes:

• Significantly more reliable synchronization

• Better support for very large file collections

• Large Selective Sync operations no longer crashing the app

• Large Backup selections no longer crashing the app

• Better synchronization into the correct folder structures

• Fixed several cases where folders could become mixed

• Fixed multiple infinite synchronization loops

• Lower memory usage

• Faster and more reliable search

• Backup heavily rebuilt

• Hundreds of additional fixes

We're continuing to update the desktop application extremely frequently based on reports.

More Windows integrations

Drime actions are now available directly inside the main Windows Explorer right-click menu.

You no longer need to open Show more options first.

Available actions include:

• Show a preview

• Version history

• File information

• Copy link

• Send & Track

• Share

• Add to favourites

• View on drime.cloud

• Get signatures

• Self-sign

• Upload to Drime

You can also choose which Drime actions appear in Explorer.

Selective Sync

You can now choose exactly which Drime folders are synchronized on a computer.

Folders you uncheck remain in the cloud without being synchronized locally.

You can also choose the default synchronization preference for newly added files.

Online only

Files remain stored on drime.cloud but still appear on your device.

Available offline

Files are stored locally and consume hard drive space.

Existing files and folders keep their current individual sync preference.

Screenshot capture and editing

Desktop also gained automatic screenshot saving and a built-in screenshot editor.

You can capture screenshots, quickly edit them and save them directly into Drime.

The new macOS app is finally available

The completely rebuilt macOS desktop application is now available. It has been rebuilt from the ground up.

The sync engine has been rebuilt for macOS, Backup has been heavily reworked, and the surrounding architecture has changed significantly.

We're currently pushing improvements to our desktop applications almost every day.

Windows users: Since there have been major changes to the sync engine, if you still have the previous app installed and syncing doesn’t start properly after updating, give it a little time first. If it still doesn’t work, try logging out and back into the app.

Transfr had a big month too

Transfr also received a major development cycle throughout August.

Alongside new features and major reliability improvements, it received a complete visual redesign aligned with the new direction we're unveiling for Drime today.

Comments

Recipients can now comment directly on transfer download pages.

Comments are optional and can be enabled individually for each transfer.

Recipients can:

• Comment without creating an account

• Reply to comments

• Create threads

• React with emoji

• Mark discussions as resolved

• Reopen resolved discussions

Comments can also be attached to specific parts of a file:

• Video timestamps

• Audio timestamps

• Points on images

• Image regions

• PDF regions

• Specific PDF pages

Comments work with end-to-end encrypted transfers too, since previews are decrypted locally in the browser.

Choose where transfer files are stored

You can now select the physical storage location used for a transfer.

Available options include:

• Automatic

• North America West

• North America East

• Western Europe

• Eastern Europe

• Asia-Pacific

• Oceania

The selected region appears directly in your dashboard.

Custom domains

Transfr Pro accounts can now serve transfer pages from their own domain.

For example:

transfer.your-company.com

Domain ownership verification, routing and HTTPS are handled automatically after the required DNS configuration is verified.

File Requests

Transfr File Requests also received a major expansion.

You can:

• Collect files from anyone

• Allow submissions without an account

• Add passwords

• Add expiry dates

• Limit the number of submissions

• Invite people by email

• Manage submissions from your dashboard

• Download everything as an archive

• Receive notifications when files are submitted

  
  

Much more reliable uploads

Transfr uploads received a significant overhaul.

Uploads can now resume across sessions.

If a 100 GB transfer stops at 90 GB, Transfr can continue from the remaining data rather than uploading the entire file again.

Uploads can also recover from:

• Page reloads

• Temporary connection loss

• Closing and reopening a laptop

• Switching networks

We also improved:

• Upload chunk sizing

• Parallel uploads

• Stall detection

• Long-running upload sessions

• Expired upload recovery

• Retry behavior

End-to-end encryption improvements

Encrypted transfers received significant performance and usability improvements.

Files can now be encrypted one by one while previous files are already uploading, rather than waiting for an entire batch to finish encrypting first.

• Multi-gigabyte decryption

• Encryption progress

• Encrypted titles and messages

• Recovery of complete share links from the dashboard

• Original filenames

• Error reporting

Transfr branding

Transfr also received more branding controls.

You can now:

• Upload your own favicon

• Set a custom page title

• Set a custom description for search engines and link previews

• Choose a permanent background

• Use almost any image as a background without manually resizing it first

The Branding section itself was redesigned as well.

Billing and invoicing

Drime billing received several improvements too.

• Company details can now be collected for invoices

• Improved invoice synchronization

Beyond the new brand identity, we continued improving the interface itself.

  These aren't always the changes that look the most impressive in a changelog.

  But they're some of the most important.

What's next

Today marks the beginning of Drime's new chapter, not the end of one.

Our new visual identity is going live across the platform, and we'll continue bringing it to more parts of the Drime ecosystem.

At the same time, reliability remains one of our biggest priorities.

The Windows and macOS applications are receiving updates almost every day.

Mobile will continue getting closer to the complete Drime web experience.

Transfr will continue improving.

And we're continuing to invest heavily in sync, backups, uploads, downloads, performance and file safety.

We're also listening closely to every report and piece of feedback.

A huge amount of what you see in this changelog exists because someone took the time to tell us what wasn't working or what they wanted to see next.
