Behind the Cloud – January 2026 Update
12 min read

January marked a very important start to the year for Drime. We shipped several major features, strengthened our security architecture, and continued improving overall platform performance. Our goal this month was simple: deliver meaningful progress while continuing to build strong foundations for the rest of 2026. Many of these updates were highly requested, and we are proud to finally make them available.
Major features now live
Rclone is officially released
Rclone support is now live, and Drime is officially classified as a Tier 1 backend, meaning production grade and fully supported.
This is a major milestone for us, but also for advanced users and technical teams who want to integrate Drime into their existing workflows.
Thank you to everyone who tested the early versions and shared feedback.
Vault V2 is now available
Vault V2 introduces a completely new encryption architecture designed to be significantly more reliable and performant for both small files and large datasets.
This version encrypts:
• Files before upload
• Sensitive metadata
• File names
• Extensions
• And more
A detailed technical blog post will be published soon to explain exactly how everything works behind the scenes. Transparency remains a priority for us, and we want you to clearly understand how your data is protected.
Vault V2 is a brand new vault and does not synchronize with Vault V1. The original vault remains accessible at any time if needed.
Notes V2 is live
Notes has evolved from a simple note taking tool into a structured collaborative workspace designed to help you organize ideas, projects, and knowledge more efficiently.
Key improvements:
• Notes are now managed per workspace to simplify collaboration
• Notes and sub-notes for better organization
• Kanban boards for project tracking
• Real-time collaboration
• Faster and more reliable editing
• Significantly improved AI
• Powered by Mistral, a high performance European AI
Sign V2 is now available
Sign has been completely rebuilt to deliver a smoother and more professional signing experience.
Drime Sign supports eIDAS-compliant electronic signatures, enabling legally recognized document workflows across the European Union.
New capabilities include:
• Fully redesigned signing editor
• Custom templates
• Mobile optimized signing
• Phone number verification for signers
• Faster document workflows
• Improved tracking and visibility
Performance, reliability, and infrastructure
We continued optimizing the core platform to make Drime faster and more predictable in everyday use.
Since early January:
• Improved upload reliability, especially for formats that previously failed more often
• Database optimizations
• Caching added to large queries for better responsiveness
• New progress bar for clearer upload visibility
• EXIF metadata is now preserved on image upload
• Multiple visual fixes and consistency improvements
• New icons across the platform
• Clearer billing page
• Mobile responsive share pages
• Photo zoom added
• Fixed dark mode icons
• Numerous UI refinements
New API documentation
Many projects are currently being built using the Drime API, and several are already live.
To make development even easier, we released a new documentation portal that is clearer and more comprehensive.
Thank you to all the developers and teams building with Drime.
Desktop – a major rebuild is approaching
The complete reconstruction of the desktop application continues to make strong progress.
This is not a simple bug fixing cycle. The application and the entire sync engine have been rewritten from the ground up, including a move to a new programming language to significantly improve stability on both Windows and macOS.
During internal testing, we successfully synced:
• Tens of thousands of files
• Very large files
• Highly complex folder structures
We also introduced several highly requested features:
• Selective Sync
• File type exclusions
• Bandwidth controls
• Proxy support
• Advanced logging
• And much more
The app is now dramatically more stable and built to handle serious workloads.
We are currently finalizing the last core systems and polishing the experience. Our goal is to launch a Windows and MacOS beta within the coming weeks, along with a signup form for testers.
What is coming next
Several updates are already in progress:
• The new mobile app
• Continued desktop improvements
• Additional Vault enhancements
• Further performance optimizations
• More highly requested features
2026 is starting with strong momentum, and this is only the beginning.
Conclusion
January was a month of major releases and structural progress for Drime.
We continue moving forward with a constant priority: building a platform that is reliable, secure, and designed to last.
Thank you for your trust, your feedback, and your patience. Every report helps us improve, and we are excited to keep building the future of Drime with you.
