Pages takes a huge step forward
Pages was only the beginning.
Throughout September, we shipped one of the largest development cycles since its release and turned it into a significantly more complete workspace for writing, organizing information and collaborating.
Databases get much more powerful
We expanded databases with several new ways to work with your information:
Timeline / Gantt view
Chart view
Form view
Gallery view
Relations between databases
Better filtering and grouping
Faster database views
Instant updates when editing data
Redesigned database controls
Forms can also be published publicly, with every response automatically added to the connected database.
We also introduced a template gallery with 37 templates, including multi-page packs and live previews.
Tasks received their own dedicated block with:
Due dates
Recurrence
Reminders
Assignment
Markdown export
Pages also gained live collaborator cursors and improved synchronization, making real-time collaboration much smoother.
Introducing Drime AI
September also introduced Drime AI directly inside Pages.
Instead of being a separate chatbot, Drime AI works with the page you’re currently editing.
It can:
Write content
Rewrite and improve existing content
Restructure a page
Create tables
Work with databases
Make changes directly inside your document
Preview changes before applying them
Undo an entire AI action
It’s powered by Mistral and is designed around privacy. It only receives the content you explicitly work with and does not have access to the rest of your Drime account. Your content is not used to train the model.
We also added:
Side-by-side columns
Better tables with headers, colours and merged cells
Improved embeds
Custom callout colours and icons
Inline dates and reminders
Better code blocks
Outline navigation
Improved slash commands
Create with AI templates
Publishing of sub-pages alongside their parent page
Pages is evolving quickly, and there’s still a lot more planned.
Drive gets more powerful
Drive also received a large number of new tools.
One of the most visible additions is the new Photos Map.
Photos and videos containing location metadata can now be explored directly on a map, making it much easier to rediscover media based on where it was captured.
We also added a completely new Storage view.
You can now more easily:
Find your largest files
Find duplicate files
Understand where your storage is being used
See usage across Drive
See Vault usage
See file version storage
See workspace storage
See Trash usage
Tags were improved too, with better search, multi-selection support and the ability to add tags directly from the right-click menu.
You can also generate a share link for multiple selected files at once.
Backups become part of Drive
Backups now have their own dedicated section directly inside the Drime sidebar.
Instead of treating a Backup like something completely separate, you can browse and interact with its files much more like regular Drive content.
You can:
Browse Backup files
Search inside Backups
Select files
Use right-click actions
Download content directly
We also continued improving Backup performance and reliability across Desktop throughout the month.
More file formats and previews
Our goal is for Drime to understand as many of the files you store as possible.
September added:
A real BIM viewer for IFC files
Element inspection
IFC properties
Spatial tree navigation
RAR extraction
7z extraction
Better RAW camera thumbnails
Improved NEF support
Improved CR2 support
Improved ARW support
Improved DNG support
Video review comments also gained reactions, direct links and faster thumbnails.
The file list itself received pinned headers, cleaner selection controls and redesigned file dialogs.
Vault gets one of its biggest updates yet
Vault evolved considerably this month.
You can now create multiple Vaults inside the same account.
Each Vault can have:
Its own name
Its own colour
Its own passphrase
Its own encryption keys
Its own reset flow
This makes it much easier to separate encrypted content based on projects, personal files or different use cases.
Encrypted PDF editing
The PDF Editor is now available directly inside Vault with end-to-end encryption.
Your PDF is decrypted locally in the browser, edited locally, then encrypted again before being stored.
Drime never needs access to the decrypted document.
We also improved Vault downloads significantly.
Large files can now be decrypted progressively while downloading instead of needing to fit entirely into memory, and folders can be compressed while they download.
Other Vault improvements include:
Encrypted text file editing
Drag and drop similar to Drive
Faster listings
Faster refreshes
Progressive previews
Better sorting
Improved selection controls
A completely new Music Player
Audio had one of its largest upgrades yet.
Drime now has a persistent Music Player that keeps playing while you browse the rest of your Drive.
It includes:
Persistent playback
Reorderable queue
Playlists
Shared playlists between web and mobile
Play an entire folder as a playlist
Album artwork
Artist metadata
Album metadata
Audio thumbnails
Timestamped comments
You can also decide whether opening an audio file should simply preview it or immediately start playing it in the Music Player.
Sign gets Advanced Electronic Signatures
Sign also had a major month.
We introduced a new Advanced Electronic Signature level.
It includes:
Individual PAdES signatures
Qualified timestamps
One-time signing certificates
Signing codes sent by SMS or email
Improved audit certificates
We also added multi-document envelopes.
Several PDFs can now be included in the same signing process while remaining separate signed documents.
Documents can be:
Reordered
Renamed
Replaced
Added together in batches
We also improved field editing, recovery and sealing reliability throughout Sign.
Mobile gets some of its biggest updates ever
September was an enormous month for Android and iOS.
Pages comes to mobile
Drime Pages is now available directly inside the mobile application.
You can:
Create Pages
Edit Pages
Work with databases
Share documents
Access version history
.dpage files also open directly in the mobile app.
Pages is available across multiple languages and continues getting closer to the full web experience.
The PDF Editor gets rebuilt
We completely rebuilt the mobile PDF Editor.
The new editor goes significantly beyond basic annotations.
It includes:
Proper text markup
Advanced annotation editing
Real redaction
PDF forms
Signatures
Page management
Merge
Split
Compress
On-device OCR
Scan to PDF was rebuilt too, with better multi-page scanning and optional OCR.
This is one of the biggest document updates we’ve ever shipped on mobile.
Vault gets much closer to the web experience on mobile
Mobile now supports multiple Vaults per workspace.
You can:
Switch between Vaults
Use separate passwords and encryption keys
Access Vault Trash
Edit encrypted text files
Preview encrypted content
Download files
Play encrypted videos
Vault now also automatically locks again when appropriate.
Performance and compatibility between web and mobile were improved significantly.
Photo Backup and Gallery improvements
Photo Backup continued receiving major reliability work, particularly on iOS.
We’ve reworked how originals are handled so Drime can:
Upload the original file
Better prevent duplicate uploads
Recover missing uploads
More reliably continue interrupted backups
Gallery also received:
A new Comfortable layout
Density controls
Simpler sorting
Simpler filtering
Better performance
We also added an EPUB reader, while Markdown files can now open directly inside Pages.
Desktop had an enormous month
If you’ve been following our weekly updates, you’ve probably noticed just how quickly the Desktop apps have been changing.
During September alone, we shipped more than 10 updates across Windows and macOS.
A huge part of this work came directly from your logs, reports and testing.
Thank you.
Windows
Windows received some of its biggest sync updates yet.
Earlier in the month, we improved:
Upload to Drime from Explorer
Backup recovery after crashes
Backup folder relinking
Backup scanning
Exclusion rules
Online-only files
Placeholder handling
Network recovery
IPv4 fallback
Explorer thumbnails
Synchronization recovery
We also fixed many situations where sync could stop or remain stuck after an interruption.
Later in the month, we shipped an even larger update.
Vault Sync
Vault is now available directly on Windows Desktop.
You can synchronize encrypted Vault content with your computer and use Selective Sync to decide which encrypted folders should remain locally available.
Multiple workspace synchronization
Workspace sync was completely reworked.
You can now synchronize multiple workspaces at the same time, with independent Selective Sync configurations for each workspace.
We also shipped:
Dozens of additional synchronization fixes
Much faster synchronization when adding files from Explorer
Faster Backup startup
Faster Backup scanning
Better file display
Better overall responsiveness
macOS keeps moving fast
The macOS application has also received frequent updates throughout September.
Among the improvements:
Better handling of very large Finder folders
Multipart uploads for large files
Better retry behavior
Fixed Finder actions
Better recovery after sleep
Client-side previews
EXIF extraction during uploads
Automatic recovery when a Drive stops responding
Many sync reliability fixes
And we’re continuing.
Vault Sync and the new multiple-workspace system are also being brought to macOS.
Workspaces, accounts and localization
Workspaces gained:
More complete audit trails
Alert policy events
Audit search
Product access controls
Invite-domain restrictions
Clear identification of externally received files
Password policies
Account customization also improved with:
New avatar picker
Photos or emoji avatars
Custom avatar backgrounds
Password strength indicator
Redesigned checkout
Drime added Simplified Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese, completely retranslated Japanese, and improved translation coverage throughout the platform.
Performance still matters
Features are important, but they can’t come at the expense of performance.
September included improvements to:
File and folder renaming
Pages databases
File selection
File hovering
Quick View animations
Audio waveform rendering
Copy-link interactions
General mobile navigation
Vault listings
Backup scanning
Desktop synchronization
Developers, we need your feedback
Drime is working on OAuth 2.0 support and a proper application system for the Drime API.
Today, many integrations require users to manually create and provide an API token.
We want to make that much simpler. Developers will be able to create a Drime application, integrate Drime into their product, and let users authorize access through a proper authentication flow.
We’ve already integrated an early version into Transfr as a demo, and we’re now looking for developers who want to help us test the developer platform.
We know many of you already have feedback about our API and that’s exactly what we’re looking for.
To participate, send us an email at contact@drime.cloud.
What’s next
October is already looking busy.
iOS
A major iOS update is coming with a large batch of fixes and improvements, including:
Improved iOS Files integration, especially for downloads
More PDF Editor improvements
A new Gallery view
Additional reliability and performance fixes
Windows & macOS
Desktop development continues at the same pace.
Thank you
September was probably the largest month of releases we’ve ever had.
Thank you again for all your support and for sticking with us while we keep pushing Drime forward.
We’re not slowing down.
See you next month.
