Behind the cloud – November 2025 update

7 min read

November has been another important month for Drime. We focused on stability across the platform, continued improving uploads and Vault performance, and made progress on several major projects including our new roles and permissions system, the mobile beta and the upcoming Rclone integration. This update brings many subtle but meaningful improvements that should make your daily use smoother and more reliable.

Web improvements and fixes

A large part of the work this month was dedicated to improving reliability, fixing long standing issues and preparing upcoming features.

From early November:

• Fixed an issue where signed documents could not be retrieved inside the Drive
• Improved Vault downloads to avoid decryption errors and added a clear error message when decryption fails
• Fixed notes issues including toast messages, error handling and automatic reload after saving a note
• Added a download button on shared links for every file
• Fixed last name not displaying in profile settings
• Fixed an issue where deleting a shared link did not remove editing access
• Fixed upload abort behavior so it cancels only the selected file instead of ending the entire upload list
• Fixed blocked uploads of .cryptomator files
• Fixed role creation and updates inside workspaces while preparing a full permissions redesign
• Improved Sign saving process to reduce potential errors
• Improved OnlyOffice save consistency and document update handling
• More robust retry logic for uploads
• Reviewed and updated the entire Help Center with new articles
• Many small UI and UX fixes

Mid November improvements:

• Complete redesign of the workspace roles and permissions system. Custom roles now work properly, workspace admins can invite roles as expected and granular permissions behave correctly.
• Fixed an issue in Vault where only 15 files were displayed
• Improved Vault upload behavior. Large batches can still occasionally stay stuck on Finalizing. If this happens, closing the upload popup and selecting the same files again will complete the process. Work continues on upload and download stability
• Faster save and update for modified documents
• Better stability for large file uploads. Performance may vary depending on location but global reliability is higher
• Fixed onboarding steps and added onboarding cards for Vault, Send and Track and File Requests
• Fixed Invite members buttons that did not appear in workspaces
• Fixed issues preventing some users from being invited to a workspace
• Fixed File Requests not usable in dark mode
• Fixed image conversion not working
• Fixed version history not appearing in the versioning tool
• Many small UI adjustments across the interface

CLI – first public release

The first version of the Drime CLI is now available.
It already supports multipart uploads which makes it more reliable when handling large files. This is an early version and we will continue to improve it based on community feedback.

Mobile – start of beta for Automatic Photo Backup

The beta rollout for the new mobile features has started.

This includes:

• Automatic Photo Backup
• A new Photos page with a simple timeline and date grouping
• Upload improvements and many fixes across iOS and Android

The beta is sent gradually to testers.

New infrastructure beta

We are preparing the rollout of our new storage infrastructure.
The beta will also be sent progressively.

This infrastructure brings noticeable improvements in upload performance, reliability and scalability.

If you want to take part in the tests, you can join our community on Discord.

Desktop – major rewrite in progress

The complete rebuild of the desktop application continues.
Since this is a very large project, we prefer not to give an ETA. Stability is our priority. Internal testing will start soon.

Infrastructure and backend work

• Deployment of a new database server to support long term scalability
• Development of the Rclone integration has started. This is one of the most requested features and the first version is estimated for mid January

Conclusion

November has been centered on strengthening the core of Drime: stability, uploads, infrastructure and long term foundations.
With the new mobile and desktop apps moving forward and Rclone approaching, the next months will bring significant improvements to the entire platform.

Thank you again for your trust and for helping us improve Drime every week.
