Where the computer backups made with Drime Desktop appear in Drime, why they are read-only on the web, and how to get back a file deleted from a backup.

In the sidebar, click Backups.
Find your computer in the list.

Open the device to browse the folders backed up from it.

#Backups are read-only on the web
A backup mirrors folders of your computer, so it can only change from that computer. On the web:
you can't upload into a backup folder;
you can't restore an earlier version of a backed-up file;
files in your backups don't show in search results.
Your backups count toward your storage. See Why my storage used doesn't match my files.
#Get back a file deleted from a backup
In the sidebar, click Trash, then the Backups tab.

Right-click the file and choose Restore to….
Pick a folder of your Drive, outside your backups.
A file deleted from a backup can't go back into it. See Restore deleted files from the Trash.
#If it doesn't work
What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
Backup folders are read-only. Changes can only be made on your local device. | You tried to add files to a backup. Upload them to another folder, or add them on your computer. |
Files deleted from a backup cannot go back into it, because a backup only mirrors your computer. Restore them to a folder of your Drive instead. | Choose Restore to… and pick a folder of your Drive. |
Choose a folder outside your backups. | The folder you picked is inside a backup: pick another one. |
My computer isn't listed | Install Drime Desktop on it and sign in: it then shows up here on its own. |
