Check and free up storage space

See how much storage you use and what takes the most room, find duplicate files, and free up space when your Drime storage is almost full.

Updated Web

Your plan gives you a storage space. This article shows where to see how much you use, what counts toward it, and how to free up space.

#See how much you use

The storage meter at the bottom of the sidebar shows the space used and your total. Click it to open Storage breakdown, which splits your usage between Files, Vault, Versions, Team space and Trash (only the ones you use are listed), with Open trash to go straight to the Trash.

The Storage breakdown opened from the storage meter, with Files, Vault, Versions, Team space and Trash, and Open trash

For details, open Settings > Storage. Storage usage shows your total and splits it by type: Images, Videos, Documents, Audios and Others. Largest files lists what is taking up the most room.

#When your storage is full

When you reach 100%, uploads stop until you free up space or move to a bigger plan. On the Free plan, a banner warns you from 80%: You've used …% of your storage, then Your storage is full, with a Get more storage button.

An upload refused for lack of space shows You have exhausted your allowed space of ….

#Free up space

Start with what costs nothing to remove:

  1. Empty the Trash.

Deleted items count until they are deleted permanently. Open Trash, then click Empty trash. See Restore deleted files from the Trash.

The Trash with four deleted files, the Drive and Backups tabs, and the Empty trash button
  2. Delete old versions.

Since October 15, 2026, versions count toward your storage, and each file keeps up to 10 of them, the oldest removed first. To delete them for all your files at once, open Settings > General > File versioning and, next to Delete all older versions of my files, click Delete. For one file, right-click it, choose File versions, then Clear all versions.

Version history of Launch plan.pdf with three versions, the current one on top, and the icons of an earlier version

To stop keeping new versions, turn off Enable file versioning in the same place. Files in folders shared with you still get versions for the other people. See Restore a previous version of a file.

  3. Remove duplicates.

In Settings > Storage, under Find duplicate files, choose Search all files to look across your whole Drive, or Search folder for one folder. Drime looks for files with identical content, and falls back to the same name and size for files it can't compare by content. Check the results, then move the copies you don't need to the Trash. See Find and remove duplicate files.

  4. Review the largest files.

Largest files, in the same section, lists what takes the most room.

Duplicates you remove go to the Trash first: empty it to get the space back.

#Get more storage

To get more space, open Settings > Storage and, under Plan, click Manage plan, or See plans on the Free plan.
