Use several vaults

Create more vaults, each with its own Vault Pass, switch between them, rename them, and see how many your plan allows per workspace.

Updated Web

You can keep several vaults, for example one for work and one for family papers. Each vault has its own Vault Pass and is locked and unlocked on its own.

#How many vaults you can have

The number of vaults depends on the plan, and counts per workspace, not per account:

In a workspace, the owner's plan sets the number. The vault switcher shows how many you have left, next to New vault: for example 2 vaults remaining.

#Create another vault

Your first vault is created from the Vault page: see Create your Vault. For the next ones:

  1. In the left rail, click Vault, then click the vault title at the top of the sidebar.

The list of your vaults opens, under Vaults.

  2. Click New vault.

The New vault dialog with the demo name Taxes typed, a colour picked and the Vault pass fields empty
  3. In Vault name, give the vault a name, up to 60 characters, then pick a Colour to tell it apart.

  4. In Vault pass, choose the Vault Pass of this vault and type it twice.

This vault gets its own pass. We don't know or store it anywhere on our servers, and it cannot be recovered.

  5. Click Create vault.

The new vault opens, already unlocked.

#Switch between vaults

Click the vault title, then click a vault in the list. Each one shows whether it is Unlocked or Locked.

The Vault switcher open with two demo vaults, one unlocked and one locked, Lock all vaults and New vault with the vaults remaining

A locked vault asks for its own Vault Pass: unlocking one vault does not unlock the others.

To lock the vault you are in, click Lock. With more than one vault, Lock all vaults locks them all at once. See Unlock and lock your Vault.

#Rename a vault or change its colour

  1. Click the vault title, then the palette next to its name.

    Its tooltip reads Vault settings.

  2. Change the Name or the Colour, then click Save.

Name and colour only. Your pass is not affected.

The gear button of the Vault toolbar, also named Vault settings, opens the Vault settings of your account instead: auto-lock and Vault security.
