Find and remove duplicate files
Find duplicate files in one folder or across your whole Drime, check them, then delete the copies you do not need. How matching works and what it skips.
#Find duplicates
Click your avatar, then Settings, and open Storage.

Under Find duplicate files, choose Search all files, or Search folder to look in one folder and its subfolders.
Check the results.
Duplicates are grouped, the groups that waste the most space first, with how much space deleting them gives back.

#Delete the copies
Select the copies you don't need and click Delete selected.
Or click Delete all duplicates: Drime keeps the oldest copy of each group and deletes the others.
Confirm in Move to trash?. The copies go to the Trash: the space comes back once you empty it. See Delete files and folders.
To run the scan again, click Search again. If there is nothing to remove, No duplicates found appears.
#How Drime finds duplicates
Files match when their content is identical.
Files Drime can't compare by content match on the same name and size. Their group is marked Same name and size, check before deleting: open them before you delete anything.
Folders, the Trash and computer backups are left out.
Drime checks your largest files first, up to 50,000 files per scan.
The results don't show the folder each copy is in.
#If it doesn't work
What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
The space didn't come back | Deleted copies are in the Trash: empty it. See Why my storage used doesn't match my files. |
You deleted the wrong copy | Restore it from the Trash. See Restore deleted files from the Trash. |
A file you know is duplicated isn't listed | It may be in a computer backup or the Trash, or outside the 50,000 largest files. |
