Use your Vault on your phone
Create or unlock your Vault in the Drime app on iPhone and Android, set a PIN and fingerprint unlock, choose when it locks, and manage your encrypted files.
The Vault tab of the Drime app opens your end-to-end encrypted Vault. Your files are decrypted on your phone with your Vault Pass, as on the web.
#Create a vault, or open yours
If you have no vault yet, the Vault tab offers Create a new Vault. Choose a Vault Pass of at least 8 characters: a gauge shows its strength. Then tap Create Vault.
If you already have a vault, created on the web or on another phone, open the Vault tab and unlock it with its Vault Pass.
#Several vaults
You can have several vaults, each with its own Vault Pass. Your plan sets how many. To go from one to another, tap Switch Vault. To add one, tap New Vault.
In a workspace, members open the workspace's vault, and only the workspace owner can create one.
From the vault switcher, you can also rename a vault (up to 60 characters), change its colour, lock it, or delete it once it is empty.
#Unlock faster with a PIN
Unlock your vault with its Vault Pass.
The app then offers to set a Vault PIN.
Choose a PIN of 4 to 12 digits.
To unlock with your fingerprint as well, turn on Unlock with fingerprint.
In recent versions of the app, each vault has its own PIN. After 5 wrong PINs, the PIN is removed: unlock with your Vault Pass, then set a new PIN.
#Choose when the vault locks
Your vault locks itself after 15 minutes by default. To change this, go to Settings > Vault auto-lock. You can choose 1, 5, 15 or 30 minutes, 1 hour, or never.
#Manage your Vault files
In your vault, you can:
create folders, add files and photos from your phone, create a text file, scan a document or take a photo;
open files, edit text files, and use Open with to open a file in another app;
rename, move, download and delete files.
Deleted files go to the Vault trash.
#What the app does not do in the Vault
You cannot share a Vault file or create a link from the app.
Photos are not backed up to the Vault automatically: automatic photo backup goes to your Drive.
You cannot upload a whole folder into the Vault.
#If it doesn't work
What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
The PIN is no longer asked | 5 wrong PINs were typed, so the PIN was removed. Unlock with your Vault Pass, then set a new PIN. |
You don't see Create a new Vault in a workspace | Only the workspace owner creates the workspace's vault. |
You forgot your Vault Pass | It cannot be recovered. See I forgot my Vault Pass. |
