Whose storage do shared files use?
When someone adds files to a folder you shared, whose storage do they use? The short answer, and the two exceptions for workspaces and file requests.
In most cases, a file counts toward the storage of the person who added it.

Someone added files to a folder I shared. Do they use my storage?
No. A file uploaded into a folder shared with someone belongs to the person who uploaded it and counts toward their storage, not the folder owner's.
I uploaded files into a folder someone shared with me. Whose storage do they use?
Yours. You own the files you upload, even in someone else's folder.
What are the exceptions?
Workspaces billed to their owner: in a workspace set up this way, files added by members count toward the workspace owner's storage.
File requests: files received through a file request belong to you, the person who created the request, and count toward your storage.
