Family billing and the launch offer

Who pays for a Drime Family, which plans include it, how the launch offer works, and what happens when the manager's plan no longer includes it.

Updated Web

#Who pays

The manager's plan pays for everything:

  • the family storage is the manager's storage;

  • members get the features of the manager's plan;

  • the Family Room is billed to the manager.

Joining a family never cancels a member's own subscription: it keeps running, and its space is used first.

#Which plans include Drime Family

You can create a family with:

  • a Lifetime plan of 3 TB or more;

  • Professional or Advanced, through the launch offer, for 30 days from October 19, 2026.

A dedicated Family plan will follow. Anyone, on any plan, can join a family by invitation.

#The launch offer

On Professional and Advanced, during the launch offer:

  • a Drime Family is here. banner at the top of your Drive shows the days left and Activate Drime Family;

  • a Launch offer note on the family page says until when you can activate it.

The Drime Family is here. banner at the top of the Drive, with Activate Drime Family

To activate it, see Create a family.

After the launch offer, a family activated during it keeps running as long as its manager stays on Professional or Advanced. Nobody new can activate Drime Family that way.

#When the family is paused

If the manager's plan no longer includes Drime Family, the family is paused. The console shows Your family is paused:

  • nothing is deleted;

  • everyone is back on their own storage;

  • inviting, joining and creating the Family Room stop;

  • everything comes back with the plan.

This can happen when the manager changes plan, or when the family is handed over to someone whose plan does not include it.

#Purchases in a child's account

A child's account with the Purchases through you parental control cannot buy plans: its billing page says that purchases go through the manager. See Parental controls.
