Add a watermark to an image or compress it

Add a text or picture watermark to an image in Drime, or make it smaller with Compress, and save the result as a copy so the original stays as it was.

Updated Web

#Add a watermark

  1. Open the image, then choose Edit > Watermark.

The watermark tool on a demo image, with the repeated DRAFT text and its settings
  2. Choose a text or a picture, then set it up.

Position (Repeat covers the whole image), colour, rotation, opacity and size. The default text is DRAFT, repeated.

  3. Click Save a copy.

A copy named after the image, followed by _watermarked, is saved in the same folder. Watermarked copy saved confirms it.

#Compress an image

  1. Open the image, then choose Edit > Compress.

The compress tool comparing the original and compressed image with a slider
  2. Choose the format and the quality.

MozJPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or JPEG XL. You can also resize the image and reduce its palette. Drag the slider to compare Original and Compressed.

  3. Save the result.

Save a copy (Ctrl + Shift + S) adds a copy named after the image, followed by _compressed. Replace original (Ctrl + S) overwrites the image. Download saves it to your computer.

Compressing runs in your browser. If you change the format, Replace original keeps the old file name: prefer Save a copy.

The image is in a computer backup, which is read-only on the web.

The image changed format after saving

Save and Replace original can do that: restore the earlier version with File versions. See Restore a previous version of a file.

For cropping, filters and other edits, see the image editor: Edit an image.
