Why my storage used doesn't match my files
What counts toward your Drime storage, what does not, why deleting files does not free space at once, and why folder sizes do not add up to your total.
What counts toward my storage?
Your files, including those in the Trash until you empty it or Drime deletes them after 30 days.
Earlier versions of your files.
Your Vault files, including the Vault's own trash.
Files you upload into folders other people shared with you: they count for you, not for the folder's owner. In a workspace that bills uploads to its owner, they count for the owner instead.
Your computer backups and your phone's camera uploads.
What doesn't count?
Thumbnails and previews that Drime makes for your files never count toward your storage.
I deleted files, but my storage didn't go down
Deleted files go to the Trash and still count. The space comes back when you empty the Trash or delete the items permanently. See Restore deleted files from the Trash.
The same goes for Move to trash? in Largest files: the files only stop counting once the Trash is emptied.
Why don't my folder sizes add up to my total?
The size shown for a folder is counted separately:
it leaves out the Trash and earlier versions, which count toward your total;
it includes everyone's files in that folder, also those that count toward someone else's storage.
So the sizes of your folders don't need to add up to your total.
Where can I see what takes up my space?
Click the storage meter at the bottom of the sidebar: Storage breakdown splits your usage between Files, Vault, Versions, Team space and Trash, with Open trash.

For more detail, open Settings > Storage:
Storage usage shows a bar by type: Images, Videos, Documents, Audios and Others. Others also includes versions, your Vault and team files.
Largest files shows What is taking up the most room., and can be filtered on Drive, Backups or Camera uploads.
Find duplicate files looks for copies.

How do I free up space?
See Check and free up storage space. If your storage is already full, see My storage is full.
