Upload files and follow your transfers

Upload files, photos and folders from your phone with the Drime app, choose what happens with duplicates, and pause, resume or retry your transfers.

Updated iOSAndroid

You can upload files from your phone at any time, and follow every upload and download in Transfers.

#Upload files

  1. Open the folder where the files should go, then tap the + button.

  2. Choose what to add.

    Upload files for any file, Upload photos for your photos and videos, Upload folder for a whole folder (Android only), Scan files to scan a document, Take photo to take one now, or Create folder.

  3. Pick the items on your phone.

    The upload starts at once. On iPhone, Transfers opens so you can follow it.

On Android, the uploaded files keep their original names and the location of your photos.

The app sets no file size limit. Uploads stop only when your Drime storage is full.

To scan a document into a PDF, see Scan documents with your phone. To send files to Drime from another app, see Use Drime from the Files app and other apps.

#When a file with the same name exists

If the folder already has a file with that name, the app asks what to do: Replace existing file, Keep both files or Skip file. Tick Apply to all duplicated files to use the same answer for the next files.

To choose a default, go to Settings > Duplicate uploads. Ask each time asks you every time. Apply to automatic backup sets whether the same choice applies to your photo backup (on by default).

#Follow your transfers

Tap your avatar, then Transfers. It has two tabs: In progress and Failed.

From the ⋮ menu, you can:

  • Pause all and Resume all;

  • Retry failed transfers;

  • Clear uploaded items from the list;

  • Cancel all.

You can also pause a single transfer from its row.

The app uploads up to 6 files at once. Large files are sent in parts, with retries if the connection drops.

#Uploads in the background

Uploads go on when you leave the app:

  • on Android, a notification shows the upload in progress. For long uploads, you can also turn on Priority background service in Settings > Backup;

  • on both systems, the app also resumes pending uploads regularly, about every 15 minutes.

Auto-resume transfers is on by default: an upload interrupted by the network starts again on its own.

#Where downloads go

When you download a file, photos and videos go to your phone's gallery. Other files go to the Downloads folder on Android, or to Documents > Downloads in the Files app on iPhone. Saved to device confirms the download.
