Does a workspace have its own storage?

No. There is no separate storage pool for a workspace. The files in it count toward the storage of a person: either the member who uploaded them or the workspace owner, depending on the Upload billing setting.

Whose storage do files in a workspace use?

It depends on Upload billing: open the workspace switcher, choose Settings, then the Members tab:

  • The member who uploads (default): each file counts toward the storage of the person who uploaded it.

  • The workspace owner: every file counts toward the owner's storage.

Do members get the owner's plan?

Members use the features of the owner's plan in the workspace. They do not use the owner's storage, unless Upload billing is set to The workspace owner.

What happens when the storage is full?

With The member who uploads, a member whose own storage is full cannot add files, while other members can.

With The workspace owner, nobody can add files once the owner's storage is full. Members then see: The workspace owner's storage is full. New files can't be added to this workspace until the owner frees up space or upgrades their plan.

Where do I see how much a workspace uses?

The workspace's admin dashboard shows its storage use. If you own the workspace and Upload billing is set to The workspace owner, click the storage meter at the bottom of the sidebar: in Storage breakdown, Team space shows how much of your storage the other members' files use.

What happens to a member's files when they leave?

They are transferred to the workspace owner and count toward the owner's storage from then on. See Leave a workspace.
