Restore a previous version of a file
Drime keeps earlier versions of your files. Download an old version, go back to it, or delete the versions you no longer need.
Each time a file changes, Drime keeps the previous version. If you overwrite a file by mistake or want an earlier state, you can download it or go back to it.
#When a version is saved
A new version is saved when:
you upload a file with the same name and choose Replace existing file;
you save the file in an editor, including the Office editor;
a document is signed;
you go back to an older version (the current one is kept first).
Folders have no versions.
#Restore a version
Right-click the file and choose File versions.

In Version history, find the version you want by its date and time.
The version in use carries the Current badge. Each version shows its time, its size and who edited it, for example Edited by you.

Point to the version and click Restore this version, the icon with two arrows.

Reverted to previous version appears and the file goes back to that version. The version you replaced is kept in the history, so you can change your mind.
To get an old version without changing the file, click the download icon next to it instead.
#How long versions are kept
A file keeps up to 10 versions: when an 11th is saved, the oldest one is removed. Versions are also removed after a number of days that depends on your plan: 30 days on the free and Starter plans, 90 days on Essentials, and 120 days on Professional and Advanced. The bottom of the Version history dialog shows it: Versions are kept for … days.
#Versions and your storage
Since October 15, 2026, versions count toward your storage on every plan. To free up space:
in a file's Version history, click the bin icon next to a version to delete it (Version deleted appears), or Clear all versions to delete all of them (All previous versions deleted);
for all your files at once, open Settings > General > File versioning. Next to Delete all older versions of my files, click Delete and confirm. The freed space can take a little while to appear.
You can also turn off Enable file versioning in the same place, to stop keeping versions from now on.
#If it doesn't work
What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
No previous versions | The file has not changed since it was added, or its older versions were removed: a file keeps 10 versions, versions expire after the number of days shown at the bottom of the dialog, and someone may have deleted them. If Enable file versioning is off in Settings > General > File versioning, no new versions are kept. |
File versions is not in the menu | You right-clicked a folder: folders have no versions. |
Backup files are read-only. | The file comes from a computer backup, which cannot be changed from the web. Download the version you need instead. |
If the file itself was deleted, look in the Trash first: see Restore deleted files from the Trash.
