What is Drime Family?

Drime Family lets a household share one plan's storage while each person keeps a private account. Learn the roles, the storage and the Family Room.

Updated Web

Drime Family lets one paying account, the manager, share their plan's storage with the people of their household. Each person keeps their own private account: nobody sees anyone else's files, the manager included, and each Vault stays sealed by its owner.

#What a family shares

  • Storage: members use their own space first, then the family storage, which is the manager's plan storage. The manager can set a limit per person. See Family storage and asking for more space.

  • Features: members also get the features of the manager's plan.

  • A Family Room: a shared workspace, billed to the manager, for what belongs to everyone. See The Family Room.

#Who can create a family

You can create a family if your plan includes Drime Family:

  • a Lifetime plan of 3 TB or more;

  • Professional or Advanced, through the launch offer, for 30 days from October 19, 2026.

A dedicated Family plan will follow. Anyone else, on any plan, can join a family by invitation. See Family billing and the launch offer.

#Roles

Role

What they do

Manager

Runs the family. Their plan is the family storage. Only the manager keeps the plan and its billing, the Family Room and the trusted contact, names co-managers, and can hand the family over or dissolve it.

Co-manager

Runs the family with the manager: invitations, storage limits, products, parental controls and family activity.

Member

Uses the family storage and the products the manager allows.

A child's account is a member with parental controls. See Create an account for your child.

#What the manager can see

The manager sees each member's e-mail address, the date they joined, their storage limit, what they draw from the family storage and whether two-factor authentication is on. Never their files.

Members see only the names of the other members, and only if the manager turns on Members see each other.

#Where to find Drime Family

At the top right, click your avatar, then Settings, and choose Family. This entry is there for every account.

The Family section of Drime Settings
  • If your plan includes Drime Family, Set up my family starts your family. See Create a family.

  • Otherwise, you see Your plan does not include Drime Family. and See plans with Drime Family. You can still join a family when someone invites you. See Join a family.

Once you are in a family, your family page also opens from the storage meter of your Drive.

#If it doesn't work

  • You are already part of a family.: you can be in one family at a time. To create your own family, first leave the current one.

  • Your plan does not include Drime Family.: your plan cannot create a family, but you can join one by invitation.
