Manage your files in the app

Browse your Drive in the Drime app, sort and display files, select several, move, copy, rename and download them, and find what each file menu offers.

Updated iOSAndroid

The Files tab shows your Drive. At the top, you find the workspace switcher, Select, the search, and quick buttons to Upload, create a Folder or Scan a document.

#Sort and display your files

  • Tap Sort by to sort by name, Last modified (the default, newest first), upload date, file size, type or extension, in ascending or descending order.

  • Switch between the list (the default) and View as grid.

To keep a different sort or display for each folder, go to Settings > Gallery & Viewer and turn on Remember sort per directory or Remember view per directory. Both are off by default.

#Select several files

Tap Select, or press and hold a file, then tap the other items. The bar at the bottom offers Move, Delete and Select all, and ⋮ for the full menu.

Deleting moves the items to the trash at once, without asking for confirmation. See Restore or delete files from the trash in the app.

#Move or copy

  1. In the file or folder's ⋮ menu, tap Move / copy.

Select destination opens, on My Drive.

  2. Open the destination folder, or create one with New folder.

  3. Tap Move here or Copy here.

You can move or copy only inside the current workspace.

Tap ⋮ next to a file or folder:

Request files, for a folder

Downloading a folder gives one ZIP file. Several selected items download one by one. Photos and videos go to your phone's gallery, other files to your downloads.

#Files shared with you

In Shared with me, the menu of an item also offers Make a copy, to keep your own copy in your Drive, and an option to remove the item from your list, which makes you leave the share.

#What the app does not do

The app does not show the version history of Drive files, does not lock files, does not transfer ownership and does not edit a file's description. Do these on the web.
