Comment in an Office document
Who can comment in a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file in Drime's Office editor, who can change or delete a comment, and how they differ from file comments.
In the Office editor, people can leave comments in a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file, for example to ask a question about a paragraph or a cell.
#Who can comment
Add a comment | Change or delete a comment | |
|---|---|---|
Person with edit rights | Yes | Their own comments only |
Person who can only view, including through a share link | Yes | Their own comments only |
Anyone who can open the document can comment, even without edit rights. Only the author of a comment can change or delete it.
Comments are part of the document: they are saved with it, like the rest of your changes. See How Office documents are saved, and their versions.
#Comments in the editor and comments on the file
Drime has two kinds of comments:
comments inside the document, in the Office editor, described here;
comments on the file in your Drive, shown next to the file and not in the document. See Comment on files and mention people.
#If it doesn't work
What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
You cannot change someone else's comment | That is expected: only its author can change or delete it. Reply to it instead. |
Your comment is missing when you reopen the file | Changes reach Drime once everyone has closed the document. If someone still has it open, wait until they close it. |
