Search tips

Get better results from Drime search: search one folder, search inside documents or by name only, use filters, and know what search does not cover.

Updated Web
How do I search only one folder?

Open the folder, then search: a folder chip in the search box limits the results to that folder and its subfolders. To search everywhere again, remove the chip with its ✕, or press Backspace in the empty search box.

Does search look inside my documents?

Yes. By default, search looks at names and at the text inside PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX). Under Search in, choose Name and content (the default), Name only or Content only.

On recent files, search also finds words with small typos.

Which filters can I use?

After a search, narrow the results by type, extension, who created the file, tags, date created, last updated, whether the item is in the Trash, has a share link or was shared by you.

Can I use quotes, minus or OR?

No. Search has no operators: it matches loosely and ranks the closest results first. Use the filters to narrow the results.

Does search find text in photos or scans?

No. Images are not searched by what they show, and text inside a photo or a scanned image is not read.

Why doesn't search find a file from my computer backup?

Files in computer backups are left out of search. Open the backup from Backups in the sidebar. See Find your computer backups in Drime.

Is there a shortcut?

Press / to jump to the search box. More: Find files with search.
